The Alawite Islamic Charity Association (AICA) is a Lebanese non-governmental, non-profit humanitarian and development organization committed to supporting vulnerable communities through health, protection, education, livelihoods, emergency response, social development, and community initiatives.

Safeguarding and Protection Commitment

The Alawite Islamic Charity Association (AICA) maintains a zero-tolerance approach toward all forms of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA), Sexual Harassment (SH), child abuse, exploitation, fraud, corruption, retaliation, and any conduct that may cause harm to the people and communities we serve.

Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. All volunteers are required to understand and comply with AICA's Code of Conduct, Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) standards, Child Safeguarding Policy, Protection Policy, Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP) commitments, confidentiality requirements, and all other applicable organizational policies throughout their engagement with AICA, both during volunteer activities and outside working hours where their conduct may affect AICA's reputation or the safety of others.

Participation in mandatory induction and compliance training—including safeguarding, PSEA, Code of Conduct, complaints and feedback mechanisms, data protection, confidentiality, and humanitarian principles—is a mandatory condition before undertaking volunteer assignments.

Volunteer Opportunity

The Alawite Islamic Charity Association (AICA) is seeking motivated and community-oriented volunteers to support its humanitarian and development programmes across Lebanon.

Volunteers will contribute to a variety of organizational activities, including community outreach, programme implementation, awareness campaigns, administrative support, events, data collection, health and protection activities, education initiatives, emergency response, and other organizational priorities based on operational needs and individual skills.

Volunteers will work alongside AICA staff under the supervision of designated team members while contributing to the organization's mission of serving vulnerable communities with professionalism, integrity, and compassion.

Purpose of the Position

To support AICA's humanitarian, development, healthcare, education, protection, and community programmes by providing administrative, technical, operational, or field assistance while promoting volunteerism, humanitarian values, accountability, inclusion, and community participation.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the implementation of AICA programmes and community activities.
• Assist staff with administrative, logistical, technical, and operational tasks.
• Participate in awareness campaigns, outreach activities, events, and community engagement initiatives.
• Support beneficiary registration, data collection, documentation, and reporting when assigned.
• Promote respectful communication with beneficiaries, communities, partners, and stakeholders.
• Maintain confidentiality of all organizational and beneficiary information.
• Comply with AICA policies, Code of Conduct, safeguarding, PSEA, data protection, confidentiality, and security procedures.
• Attend required orientations, trainings, meetings, and volunteer capacity-building activities.
• Report safeguarding concerns, misconduct, fraud, security incidents, or other risks through approved AICA reporting channels.
• Perform other volunteer duties reasonably assigned by the supervising staff member.

Volunteer Working Hours

Volunteer assignments are flexible and coordinated with the designated supervisor based on programme needs.

Unless otherwise approved, volunteer engagement should generally not exceed 20 hours per week.

Reporting Line

The volunteer will report directly to the designated supervisor, project focal point, or department manager assigned by AICA.

Training and Compliance

Before commencing volunteer assignments, volunteers must successfully complete all mandatory induction sessions and organizational compliance requirements, including:

Continued volunteering is conditional upon compliance with these requirements and all applicable AICA policies.

Terms and Conditions

• This is a voluntary, unpaid position unless otherwise specified in a separate written agreement.
• Volunteers are expected to uphold AICA's values of humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, accountability, integrity, and professionalism.
• Volunteers must comply with all applicable organizational policies, procedures, security measures, confidentiality requirements, safeguarding obligations, and donor requirements.
• AICA reserves the right to suspend or terminate volunteer engagement where organizational policies, safeguarding standards, or the Code of Conduct are violated, or where operational requirements necessitate the conclusion of the volunteer assignment.
